Information on Accessing MIM Documents through a WAIS Server
------------------------------------------------------------

WAIS is a public domain client-server full text retrieval system that is
available at several sites listed below.  Documentation and electronic
bulletin boards for WAIS are also listed.

We suggest that you ftp the client software which best suits your needs and try
it out. You may need help from your local system administrator to do this.

To access OMIM documents through WAIS, you need a file called omim.src 
containing the following information.

You can either create this file yourself or get it from the WAIS server.
The client software program you download will include a directory of servers,
so just type "omim" to get the omim.src file.

Please note that access to OMIM through WAIS is NOT an officially supported
service of Johns Hopkins University. 

OMIM is also accessible online through GDB (Genome Data Base), which is
officially supported.  For information on accessing OMIM though GDB, please
send mail to: help@welch.jhu.edu
