CloneMap version 2.1 demo readme Dear Colleague, CloneMap is plasmid drawing and restriction mapping package for MS Windows. Its interface is similar to that of MacPlasmap, a popular plasmid program for the Macintosh. CloneMap's main features are: • Flexible construction and manipulation of plasmid maps, without or with DNA sequences. You can draw maps from DNA sequences or by simply supplying structural information of the plasmid molecules and associated map features. CloneMap automatically detects many sequence formats and creates maps that are linked to the sequences to facilitate cloning. Many tools are provided to make map manipulations simple and seay. • Restriction mapping. Restriction site mapping is an integral part of plasmid map drawing and cloning. CloneMap provides advanced restriction analysis either on editable graphic maps or in editable text windows. • Cloning simulation. Fragments can be inserted to and deleted from plasmid maps, allowing you to construct maps from other maps in a manner similar to the cloning process. Map features and sequences are automatically updated during the insertion and deletion. • Interactive environment. The graphic maps in CloneMap are completely interactive. You can use the mouse pointer to manipulate maps and map features using techniques found in general drawing programs. This allows you to adjust and fine-tune the presentation of maps. In addition, you can add drawing objects and free form text items in the map window to enhance your map presentation. Please download the demo package and give it a try. The demo file needs to be unzipped. The demo package includes on-line help, sample files, and ordering information. The easiest way to get familar with the program is to open some sample files and experiment with them. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at cgcsci@aol.com. CGC Scientific, Inc.
